This article describes the chemical composition of the Valerian plant and its uses in folk medicine. In addition to cardiovascular diseases, the use of rhizomes and roots of the plant is indicated in disorders of the nervous system, neurasthenic diseases. The importance of complex esters and terpenoids in its composition is given.
