The article presents the results of a study of certain issues of interest to science about professionalism, highlights some of the problems of interpreting scientific definitions. The article also provides an overview of foreign and domestic studies of professions, while arguing that most researchers are faced with the uncertainty of their interpretation. Current research questions include assessing professionalism as a social value. An overview of the main views of scientific sociologists on the interpretation of the terms profession and specialty is given, and it is argued that some scientists insist on the heterogeneity of their interpretation. It is concluded that at present, the majority of scientists still consider the interpretation of the terms profession and occupation as a waste of time, which does not contribute in any way to understanding the power of specific professional groups, and most researchers in this area today no longer think it is particularly important to draw a clear line between professions. and other professional activities. At the same time, the purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive overview of the views on terminology available in science, that is, on the subject of the interpretation of professions, professionalism, to assess professionalism as a social value, to show what professional identity is associated with, how to reproduce and develop, to show how the social value of professionalism can determine the life strategy of a specialist in the field of physical culture and sports. In our study, we used: the historical method, which provided an opportunity to illuminate the state of affairs at a time when there is a change in the content of concepts, the logical-linguistic method, which is based on the laws of logic and terminology. As a result of the study, it is concluded that the very process of forming professional strategies is to a certain extent manageable. The analysis of the literature on pedagogy, psychology, sociology made it possible to define the life strategies of the personality of a developing professional in the field of physical culture and sports, as well as to determine the factors that contribute to their implementation.
