The progress of practical discourse competence is indispensable for philology students, who must master academic, professional, and intercultural communication. Traditional discourse teaching often relies on text analysis, dialogue practice, and teacher-led explanations, which may not adequately address individual learning needs or diverse communication contexts. Artificial intelligence (AI) has introduced new opportunities for transforming discourse instruction into an interactive, learner-centered process. This paper explores innovative AI-supported methods for teaching practical discourse to philology students, including AI-driven dialogue simulation, automated discourse analysis, personalized feedback, multimodal discourse tasks, and digital collaboration tools. The findings demonstrate that AI not only enhances students’ discourse competence but also prepares them for real-world linguistic communication in academic and professional settings.
