This article reveals the lexical-semantic features of the micro and macrotoponymy of the district, the etymology of many peoples in the district, according to which the main part of the micro and macrotoponyms available in the district is of general Turkic character. In addition, in the territory of the district there are some Tajik, Arabic, Sughd names such as Darvozagaza, Murason, Galajin, Gushar, Jonirohat, as well as names belonging to different spiritual and semantic groups. The article reveals the main features of toponyms in the formation of the ethnic composition of the population of the district.
