This article analyzes the use of Arabic verb patterns (verb “bāb”) in proverbs from linguistic-cultural and grammatical perspectives. Unlike other languages, Arabic verbs are divided into various patterns, and the influence of these patterns on meaning, stylistic function, and cultural content is demonstrated scientifically. A combination of descriptive, comparative, semantic, and synthesis methods is used to examine the form, meaning, and function of verbs found in proverbs. The views of European Arabists such as Thomas Erpenius and Wright are studied as historical sources and compared with modern proverb data. As a result, it is identified that forms of the I, II, III, IV, VI, V, VII, VIII, and X verb patterns are actively used in proverbs, while the patterns افعلّ and افعالّ are almost absent. Additionally, the capabilities of triliteral and quadriliteral verbs are differentiated. The passive voice is noted for creating cultural meanings that emphasize human weakness, submission to fate, and focus on results. The study reveals that verb patterns in Arabic are important not only grammatically but also semantically and culturally. It also highlights the importance of using verb patterns correctly.
