The article describes the scientific and theoretical study of the concept of "social adaptation" in the sociological literature and provides an analysis of the scientific and theoretical approach of local and foreign sociologists to the concept of "social adaptation". Sociological theories explain the definition, details, various forms and mechanisms of social adaptation. The content, types, structure and functions of the concept of "social adaptation" are discussed. The influence of the social environment on the social adaptation of people as well as internal and external factors are revealed. It has been argued that the concepts of socialization and social adaptation are synonymous concepts. In the article, the author summarizes the theories put forward by classical and modern representatives of sociology, as well as the influence of social norms, behavior, values and social institutions on human social adaptation. An empirical analysis of a sociological study conducted by the author is also cited.
