This article analyzes the relevance and development strategies of linguistic competence for students studying in the field of philology in the era of globalization and rapidly evolving information technologies. Linguistic competence is defined as a harmonious system of grammatical, lexical, phonetic, and pragmatic knowledge that enables students not only to master the language theoretically but also to apply it effectively in practice, within cultural and social contexts. The importance of linguistic competence for philology students, its structural components, and methods of development are thoroughly examined. The study emphasizes that mastering a language both theoretically and practically, and being able to use it in communicative and cultural contexts, is a crucial professional skill for philology students. The research employs descriptive, comparative, and analytical methods to explore the grammatical, phonetic, lexical, and pragmatic aspects of linguistic competence. Furthermore, the role of modern digital technologies, interactive platforms, and innovative approaches in enhancing language skills is discussed. The article also provides practical recommendations on assessing linguistic competence, improving teacher qualifications, and fostering intercultural communication, while offering theoretical and practical approaches aimed at improving the quality of education in the field of philology.
