The theoretical aspects of the study of conflict and cooperation are analyzed in the article. The author considers a number of modern theories in terms of their applicability to understanding and resolving conflicts in the field of international relations. The concepts of are analyzed Y. Galtung, F. Hoffman, G. Kissinger, S. Huntington, F. Fukuyama, J. Burton, E. Azar, F. Beer, and others. Also, the phenomenon of hybrid warfare and some approaches to its study are comprehended. A hybrid war is called a conflict of the future, and such a military-political bloc as NATO pays attention to it. It is a multilateral and multi-level conflict, which is more difficult to define, since it goes beyond the framework of traditional strategy and tactics, providing for the active involvement of civilian resources.
