In literature lessons, one of the objectives of the classes is to form a reader’s personality capable of perceiving and analyzing a literary work and capable of independently comprehending the art of the artistic word. This article examines the dialect vocabulary functioning in the stories of V. M. Shukshin and representing the speech features of the characters and the author, which is very important to understand for a complete understanding and perception of the literary text. Thus, an important role in achieving this task is played by the vocabulary work carried out by the teacher together with the students, identifying such vocabulary and deciphering it in context.
