The discussion is supported by examples from notable authors, including Ernest Hemingway, Cormac McCarthy, Jane Austen, and Raymond Carver, who effectively utilize laconism in both dialogue and narrative. Hemingway’s six-word story, "For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn," is highlighted as a quintessential illustration of how minimalism can evoke profound emotional impact. Raymond Carver’s minimalist prose, particularly in his short stories, is presented as a modern embodiment of laconism, where sparse language emphasizes the raw, unfiltered realities of everyday life. The article also addresses the challenges of employing laconism, stressing the delicate balance between simplicity and clarity necessary to avoid ambiguity or disengagement.
