The article is dedicated to the specifics of teaching Russian language in non-linguistic (technical) universities, focusing on teaching methods aimed at forming professionally oriented language competence. The main difficulties faced by teachers and students are considered: low motivation, complex professional vocabulary, lack of adapted teaching materials, and weak integration of language with specialized subjects. The article proposes ways to improve teaching effectiveness, including developing specialized teaching aids, using professionally oriented texts and terminological maps, and interdisciplinary integration.
