This article examines key morphonological processes in the Russian language and their importance for linguistic research and language teaching practice. The study draws on the works of both Russian and foreign scholars in the fields of phonology, morphology, and morphonology. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of sound alternations, historical developments, and a range of contemporary trends in the use of morphonological models. The article also outlines methodological approaches to teaching the morphonological features of the language, which can foster a deeper understanding of the structural patterns of Russian among learners.
