Lexical cohesion is a phenomenon related to the interconnection of lexical units in the text and occupies a leading position in the structure of the text. Below we attempt to shed light on the functions of metonymy manifested in the formation of lexical cohesion in media texts. The intended purpose is to determine the possibilities of the metonymy to create a cognitive basis for the semantic relationships that occur in the text.
