The article examines motivation as one of the key tools for improving student performance in educational institutions. The author analyzes motivation as a complex psychological phenomenon that determines the direction of students' activity. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between motivation and students' professional plans, as well as the influence of social and technical factors on their professional development. The importance of adaptation procedures for first-year students, who face new forms of educational activity, is highlighted. The necessity for students to understand the importance of professional knowledge and skills is emphasized. Methods for developing sustainable motivation, including organizing practical training that integrates theory and practice to create a cohesive knowledge system, are discussed. The article presents recommendations for improving the educational process aimed at developing students' cognitive interests and ensuring their active involvement in educational and professional activities. The conclusion emphasizes the significance of joint efforts by teachers and students in shaping educational and professional motives, which contribute to adaptation and professional growth.
