The article explores the potential of English-language media texts as a linguocultural tool for developing linguocultural competence in philology students. This competence enables learners to comprehend, evaluate, and apply both linguistic and extralinguistic components of intracultural and intercultural communication in their future professional activities. The aim of the research is, within the framework of the linguocultural approach, to identify linguistic units in media texts that represent the cultural code of the studied language and suggest ways of integrating these units into the process of teaching the English language. The source material consists of English-language media texts taken from the electronic versions of high-quality British and American newspapers and magazines, including «Daily Sabah», «Deutsche Welle», «Gulf News», «The Guardian», «The Telegraph», and «Reader’s Digest» from 2023–2024.
