This article examines the history of the first recording and publication in Europe of the "Gorogli" (Koroglu) epic cycle, which is considered a masterpiece of the oral art of Turkic peoples. It analyzes the role of the "Book of Songs," published on January 25, 1721, by the Armenian traveler and scholar Elias Musheghyan, in the history of Uzbek and broader regional epic heritage.
