This article examines the issues of determining the subject of rights over machine-generatedoutputs amid the development of generative artificial intelligence systems. It analyzes gaps in civillegislation that traditionally recognize only physical persons as authors. Foreign practices are studied, anddeveloper, user, and electronic person models are reviewed. The electronic person concept for AI iscritically evaluated, the implementation of a sui generis legal regime to protect property interests isjustified, and recommendations for improving legislation are proposed.
