This article analyzes the state of the public education system in Surkhandarya region during the 1970s–1980s, the ideological pressures within it, and the specific aspects of the educational and upbringing processes based on historical sources and practical examples. The study highlights the expansion of the school network at the regional and district levels, the administrative-command system, forced labor, ideological uniformity, and the negative impact of the “cotton campaign” on the public education system.
