This article investigates the linguocultural significance of cognitive metaphor. Cognitive metaphor is examined not only as an expressive means of language, but also as a fundamental mechanism shaping human thought and cultural worldview. The national and cultural characteristics of the system of metaphorical concepts are highlighted, and the linguocultural analysis of cognitive metaphors demonstrates that the historical experience, customs and values of a people are reflected in the process of conceptualizing reality.
