This article analyzes the process of toponymic nomination from the perspective of cognitive linguistics. It examines the role of human cognition, national-cultural worldview, conceptual categorization, and linguistic consciousness in the formation of toponyms. The study also explains the influence of associative thinking, mental models, and ethnocultural factors in naming geographical objects.
