This research explores the paradigmatic aspect of the concept “bread” in Uzbek and English linguistic systems. The study investigates the semantic structure of the lexeme non/bread and its derivatives, considering historical, cultural, and cognitive dimensions. It reveals that the word bread holds significant cultural, conceptual, and symbolic meanings in both languages. The analysis covers nominative fields, syntagmatic-paradigmatic relations, and the use of bread in phraseological expressions. Through comparative lexicographic and contextual analysis, the paper identifies shared and distinct features of the concept in both linguistic environments. The research also highlights how bread operates as a marker of identity, value, and worldview. Findings contribute to broader conceptual and cognitive linguistic theories by illustrating how everyday words reflect deeper semantic structures and sociocultural realities. Ultimately, the concept of bread emerges not merely as food but as a carrier of meaning embedded in cultural and linguistic consciousness.
