Annotatsiya

The article focuses on the role of pragmatic aspects in literary translation. Pragmatics is viewed as a key tool for achieving pragmatic equivalence between the source text and its translation. Core concepts of pragmatics — speech acts, implicature, presupposition, politeness theory, and relevance theory — are analyzed in terms of their importance in conveying the author’s intent, cultural context, and communicative effect in the translation of literary works. The translator is highlighted as an interpreter of implicit meanings, a mediator between cultures, and an active agent in reconstructing the pragmatic dynamics of the original text. Special attention is paid to the challenges of transferring pragmatic elements and the strategies to overcome them.
