This article examines the meaning of aphorisms and the various approaches to their study in world linguistics. Aphorisms convey profound meaning and social values through short and precise expressions, making them one of the widely studied phenomena in linguistics. Linguists have long been interested in understanding the structure, function, and cognitive processing of language, continuously exploring how aphorisms encapsulate deep linguistic ideas in a concise form. By analyzing the linguistic features of aphorisms such as syntax, semantics, and pragmatics researchers gain valuable insights into the mechanisms through which language expresses and conveys meaning. The article also reviews the contributions of linguists from Germany, France, England, and the United States to the study of aphorisms.
