In Eastern and Western literature, the images of legendary and historical heroes reflect the cultural and historical development of society. This article analyzes the processes of formation, development and change of these images. In Eastern literature, heroes, created on the basis of the history and religious traditions of their people, usually promote goodness and justice, while in Western literature, heroes are a symbol of personal freedom, courage and individualism. The article studies the evolution of these heroes through the analysis of literary sources from different periods.
