The article examines one of the main problems of translation studies - the translation of speech units and the methods of teaching translation within the framework of theoretical and applied sciences of translation at the faculty of philology. The problem of translatability has been discussed within the framework of modern linguistic translation studies, using the concept of multilevel equivalence of translation as a basis for the communicative equivalence of original and translated texts.
