This article is devoted to one of the less studied problems of general and typological linguistics – the theory of syntactic classification of the languages of the world, in particular, it develops a new typological classification of the languages of the world as to syntactic criteria characteristic of one of the existing types of syntactic units - complex sentences, also known in linguistics as politaxemes. Based on the positional arrangement of the original subordinators about the adverbial component in hypotaxemes (or parentizators to the parenthetical component in parentaxemes), which are the subtypes of the politaxemes, the languages of the world have been classified into:1) languages with subordinator(or parentizator) in a preposition (these are Indo-European languages); 2) languages with a subordinator(or parentizator) in interposition (these are Finno-Ugric languages) and 3) languages with a subordinator(or parentizator) in postposition (these are Turkic languages).
