Private defense industries (PDIs) have emerged as key actors in global security and global affairs, transforming the traditional state-based model of military power. Companies such as Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, and Rheinmetall are not only producers of advanced weaponry and defense technologies but also influencers of state policy, arms trade, and strategic alliances. This article examines the role of corporate power in international security, focusing on how PDIs shape international stability, conflict patterns, and geo-political competition. From a review of arms trade statistics, technological innovation, lobbying, and moral questions, the study outlines the two-faced role of PDIs: enhancing country defense capacities and raising questions of accountability, transparency, and private military power. The research identifies the increasing interdependence between states and non-state defense actors and proceeds to outline how corporate approaches contribute their share to shape current security settings and international relations.
