In this article, the role, content, and significance of civic education in the education system are analyzed from a scientific and theoretical point of view. Civic education is interpreted as a process that prepares a person for active participation in the life of society, forms the qualities of legal consciousness, social responsibility, and patriotism. In the article, the ideas of world scientists such as J. Dewey and T. Marshall on civic education are presented by Uzbek scientists - A. Abdukodirov and Sh. Yuldashev, their commonalities and differences were identified. Also, the reforms carried out in recent years in the Republic of Uzbekistan in the direction of forming civic consciousness through the education system, the renewal of the national curriculum, the expansion of the content of spiritual and moral education, and measures aimed at increasing the social activity of young people are analyzed. According to the research results, civic education is assessed not only as an educational component of education, but also as a strategic factor in preparing young people for social life. The article concludes with recommendations for harmonizing civic education with modern pedagogical approaches and its deep integration into the content of education.
