This article analyzes the formation of artificial irrigation systems and the development of agricultural practices in the Khorezm oasis, located in the lower reaches of the Amu Darya, based on archaeological research. The construction of irrigation structures in complex natural and geographical conditions and their role in shaping agrarian civilization are highlighted. The results of archaeological expeditions led by S.P. Tolstov, the developmental stages of the ancient canal and irrigation ditch systems, as well as the connection between tribal management systems and irrigation networks, have been scientifically analyzed. The article demonstrates that the location of agricultural oases in ancient Khorezm was closely intertwined with the socio-economic structure and state governance.
