This study explores the institutional and legal nature of conflicts of interest between the state and investors in the context of developing jurisdictions, with a focus on the specific features of Uzbekistan’s investment climate. It analyzes international investment protection standards, including the Philip Morris v. Uruguay case, as a reference point for defining the legal boundaries of state regulation. The paper offers recommendations to enhance institutional resilience mechanisms aimed at further developing Uzbekistan’s investment regime in line with international practices and national priorities.
