This article focuses on the history of statistical development in Turkestan, emphasizing the contributions and activities of prominent Russian scientists. The study highlights the dual role of statistical committees in Turkestan not only as state institutions governed by the legislative bodies of the empire but also as centers of scientific research and local history in the region. The second half of the 19th century to the early 20th century was a period of significant advancement in statistical science. Russian scholars made substantial contributions to the theoretical development of statistics, and the notion of statistics as a social science gained both recognition and expansion through the works of its leading figures. In Turkestan, Russian statisticians conducted several groundbreaking statistical studies, which laid the groundwork for the evolution of statistical practices and the establishment of a regional statistical service.
