This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the formation, evolution, and stages of socio-cultural development of photographic art in Uzbekistan based on a historical and theoretical approach. In this study, photography is considered from the late 19th century not only as a means of artistic expression but also as a socio-cultural phenomenon serving as a visual documentary witness of historical processes. The article examines the formation of national photography through scientific expeditions of the Russian Empire period, local and foreign photographic practices, ethnographic imagery.
