Interlingual equivalence, or the relationship between lexical units of different languages, remains an important issue in translation studies and contrastive linguistics. The core of this problem lies in determining when a word or expression in one language can be considered equivalent to a word or expression in another language, and what criteria must be met to establish this equivalence.
