This article analyzes the role and importance of universities and the Extension (agricultural advisory service) system in the development of agritourism in the United States. The study covers the formation of “land-grant” universities, their institutional tasks in the development of rural areas, and the areas of practical assistance provided to farmers and local communities through Extension services. The article considers training, consulting, scientific research, and methodological manuals as important mechanisms in the development of agritourism. Based on foreign experience, the effectiveness of scientific and practical cooperation in the sustainable development of agritourism is assessed and conclusions are drawn on the possibilities of applying this experience in the conditions of Uzbekistan.
