This article examines the role of digital payment systems in poverty reduction and financial inclusion, using the Kenyan M-Pesa model as a case study. The research aims to analyze the M-Pesa experience and assess its applicability in Uzbekistan. The study employs comparative analysis, statistical analysis, and document analysis methods. Results indicate that M-Pesa significantly increased access to financial services in Kenya – financial inclusion rose from 26.7% in 2007 to 83.7% by 2023. Research findings revealed that 194,000 households (2% of Kenyan households) were lifted out of poverty. In Uzbekistan, extensive mobile network coverage and developing digital infrastructure create favorable conditions for implementing M-Pesa-type services. However, factors such as the regulatory environment, financial literacy levels among the population, and high trust in cash must be considered. The article develops practical recommendations for advancing digital payment systems in Uzbekistan.
