This article studies the working principle and theoretical foundations of a brush drum device used in the primary processing of woolfibers for the production of nonwoven fabrics. The movement of wool fibers, their dragging on a grate and the process of cleaning them from small impurities using a brush drum installed in the fiber outlet chute were theoretically analyzed. During the study, the effect of the angle of the chute, the diameter of the brush drum, the rotation speed and the number of slats on the cleaning efficiency was determined. According to the computational results, it was substantiated that the optimal technological parameters are a 50° chute inclination angle, a 400 mm diameter brush drum and a rotation speed of 500– 630 rpm. The proposed design reduces fiber entanglement, effectively separates the remaining small impurities and continuously transfers the fiber to the nexttechnological stage.
