Objective: improving the reliability and maintainability of rolling stock and improving maintenance systems raises the issue of assigning the service life of freight wagons, taking into account the economic component of production and operation. Method: to confirm the service life of freight wagons, the evaluation and comparison of the results of resource and running dynamic strength tests of analog wagons, as well as digital modeling of the movement of freight wagons in curves and straight sections of the track in the Universal Mechanism software package is performed. Results: as a result, dynamic characteristics were obtained for a new wagon and a wagon with predicted wear in operation, on the basis of which a correction factor was derived, which allows to more refine the resource of the structural elements of the wagon. Practical significance: the proposed assessment can be used at the design stage of freight wagons to predict their resource, as well as to assess the remaining resource based on the results of dynamic running tests.
