In this research work, the options for reducing the average operating fuel consumption of the locomotive by optimizing the gas distribution phase angles using the mathematical model of the working process of the diesel cylinder of a shunting locomotive are studied. In addition, the impact of the application of the electronic fuel injection control system on the efficiency of fuel consumption in shunting locomotives with a mechanical transmission fuel injection system was studied.
