The article examines academic procrastination as a complex psychological phenomenon associated with impaired self-regulation of learning activity, motivational and emotional fluctuations, and the characteristics of the educational environment. Based on an analysis of international studies, the paper reveals the main determinants of students’ procrastination behavior, including the aversiveness of academic tasks, deficits in planning, decision-making difficulties, anxiety, and the influence of the digital educational environment. Particular attention is paid to the fact that procrastination affects academic performance not directly, but through real behavioral patterns of learning activity: regularity of work with course materials, completion of assignments, and involvement in the educational process. The need for comprehensive prevention of academic procrastination is substantiated, combining the development of self-regulation skills, pedagogical course design, regular feedback, and the creation of a supportive educational environment.
