A comparative study of style in the novels of said ahmad and ernest hemingway

This article presents a comparative stylistic study of the novels of Said Ahmad, a prominent representative of Uzbek literature, and Ernest Hemingway, a renowned American writer. The study aims to identify the similarities and differences in the authors’ individual writing styles, focusing on lexical and syntactic features, narrative techniques, dialogue, imagery, symbolism, and psychological characterization. Particular attention is paid to Hemingway’s concise and restrained prose, which conveys profound emotional and philosophical meanings through simple language and subtext, and Said Ahmad’s expressive narrative style, which reflects nationaltraditions, social relationships, cultural values, and the emotional experiences of his characters. The research employs comparative, descriptive, contextual, and stylistic analysis to explore how linguistic choices contribute to characterization, thematic development, and the artistic representation of human experience. By examining selected novels, the study highlights the relationship between individual authorial style and national literary identity. It also demonstrates how two writers from different cultural and historical backgrounds employ distinctive artistic techniques to address universal themes such as war, love, suffering, human dignity, and socialresponsibility. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of comparative stylistics and the interaction between language, culture, and literary expression in English and Uzbek prose.
