The article examines the issues of improving general and special physical, as well as technical andtactical training of 16–17-year-old hurdlers. Based on the obtained data, a set of exercises was developedto enhance the general and special training of hurdlers, which was integrated into the athletes' trainingprocess. The program comprised stages of general, special, and pre-competition training, as well as thecompetitive and recovery periods. The research findings demonstrated that scientifically substantiatedplanning of baseline training enables the effective development of special physical qualities and technicalproficiency in hurdlers, as well as the improvement of their competitive performance.
