This article analyzes the development of the historical novel genre in Uzbek literature during the independence era, the renewal of principles regarding the artistic interpretation of historical reality, and changes in the portrayal of historical figures. It highlights how the opportunity to view national history from an objective and fresh perspective—afforded by independence—has led to significant innovations in the themes, ideas, character systems, and artistic imagery of historical novels.
