This article examines the ethnocultural processes that took place in the Khorezm oasis during the twentieth century, along with their historical, socio-political, and economic foundations. It discusses the abolition of the Khiva Khanate and the formation of the Khorezm People’s Soviet Republic, the national-territorial delimitation of 1924, the collectivization policy, the elimination of traditional nomadic and semi-nomadic economic forms, the “Hujum” campaign, forced and natural migration processes, and the impact of the Aral Sea ecological crisis on the population’s way of life and material-spiritual culture.
