Annotatsiya

This article examines the activities of Said Alim Khan, the last Emir of Bukhara, in connection with international political and intelligence circles during his exile in Afghanistan. Beginning with his attempts to secure international assistance in the 1920s, the study analyzes the interest shown by British, Soviet, German, and Japanese intelligence services in Bukharan émigrés during the Second World War, the formation and activities of the “Faol” and “Liga” organizations, the attitude of the Afghan government toward these groups, and the arrests carried out in 1943. The available evidence indicates that Said Alim Khan’s contacts with foreign powers did not follow a single or consistent political course. While the former Emir himself maintained a cautious political position, certain groups within the Bukharan émigré community pursued more active forms of cooperation with foreign powers
