This article analyzes the legal and institutional foundations of journalistic ethics in covering crime-related topics, using international documents and professional codes as examples. It also provides a comparative analysis of the legislation and practice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, within which such pressing issues as the presumption of innocence, the right to privacy, sensationalism, and the phenomenon of “media trial” are examined from a scholarly perspective.
