Annotatsiya

This article aims to provide a systematic analysis of the legal and regulatory mechanisms governing coaches’ professional development and continuing education in Uzbekistan, with particular attention to the new Law on Physical Culture and Sport adopted in 2026 and the subordinate regulations implementing it. The study applies legal-normative analysis, comparative legal analysis, systems analysis and content analysis. The findings show that the regulatory framework increasingly integrates the professional status of coaches, the requirement to hold a qualification certificate, the duty to continuously improve professional competence, and compliance with safety, sanitary and hygiene requirements and the rules of international sports organisations. The article argues that the existing periodic training model should evolve toward a continuous professional development model combining formal, non-formal and workplace learning. Practical recommendations are proposed for systematically incorporating legal literacy, sport safety, pedagogy and psychology, sports medicine, international federation rules, reflective practice and mentoring into coach development programmes.
