Annotatsiya

Despite major advances in emergency obstetrics and gynecology, urgent nongravidar metrorrhagias (UNgrM) remain among the least studied acute problems, particularly with regard to their epidemiological and emergency preventive aspects. Epidemiological assessment and emergency diagnosis are required in virtually all urgent (comorbid) clinical situations. This is essential for the early development of optimized algorithms for preclinical diagnosis and prevention, as well as for the targeted determination of emergency medical care strategies and the scope of further urgent investigations in patients with UNgrM. The global prevalence of UNgrM remains incompletely established. The literature provides mainly statistical rather than epidemiological data, indicating that the overall clinical situation regarding UNgrM is unfavorable across different regions of the world: each year, 1 million women seek emergency medical care for particular forms of UNgrM. For example, in its most common types—heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) or abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB)—the risk of emergency hospitalization increases by more than twofold. On the other hand, every second woman with UNgrM does not seek medical care and therefore lives with a high risk of developing an “obstetric continuum” (increased mortality associated with existing comorbid pathology), and/or this condition increases the frequency of surgical interventions. More than 50% of women of reproductive age experience abnormal uterine bleeding at least once in their lifetime.
