Relevance. High myopia is one of the most common serious problems among refractive errors. After the implantation of PIOL, the immunological changes in the aqueous humor of the anterior chamber remain insufficiently studied. Purpose of the study. To evaluate and compare changes in local MMP-1 levels in the aqueous humor of the anterior chamber of the eye after implantation of collamer- and acrylic-based PIOLs in patients with high myopia. Materials and methods. This study included 18 patients (30 eyes) with high myopia who were planned to undergo PIOL implantation. The control group consisted of 20 patients (20 eyes) with emmetropia. The study of the local level of MMP-1 was carried out based on solidphase enzyme immunoassay using special reagents. Results and conclusions. The local level of MMP-1 after implantation of different types of FIOLs in patients with high myopia shows an increase in concentration compared to the initial values. This indicates a pronounced activation of the processes of degradation and restructuring of the extracellular matrix. In this case, it reflects intensive participation in the early phase of tissue remodeling.
