This work presents the results of a comprehensive physicochemical study of the interaction between ammonium nitrate (NH4NO3) and glycine (NH2CH2COOH) in aqueous solutions and the solid phase. Using FT-IR spectroscopy, synchronous thermal analysis (DTA/TGA), and X-ray phase diffraction (XRD), it was established that the interaction of the components leads to the formation of molecular associates through a network of hydrogen bonds involving the ammonium cation, nitrate anion, and the functional groups of the amino acid, with no formation of new individual chemical compounds. Thermal analysis demonstrated that the addition of glycine stabilizes the system, shifting the onset of ammonium nitrate decomposition to higher temperatures. IR spectroscopy confirmed the presence of interactions affecting the carboxyl and amino groups of glycine. The data obtained substantiate the potential for creating stabilized liquid nitrogen fertilizers based on Urea-Ammonium Nitrate (UAN) solution, modified with amino acids, to achieve improved agrochemical and ecological properties.
