This article provides a scientific analysis of the concept of competition between criminal law norms, its essence, legal nature, and importance for the correct qualification of crimes. The author substantiates the differences between competition and conflict of norms, as well as between competition and concurrence of crimes. Additionally, the issue of competition between general and special norms in criminal law is examined based on legislation and practice.
